For the braids, go to a Sally's Beauty Supply, and find fake plastic weaves. The crappier, the better. Buy two packs of those.

Do whatever length that you feel most comfortable with! Most people prefer them to their knees. I made mine able to drag on the ground by glueing two braids end to end.
Could you link me to your Meenah cosplay when it's finished? I would love to see it!
